I have always been hesitant to share my workspace. It isn’t Instagram or Pinterest pretty, but this past year I spent time thinking about life and 2025 as I will turn 50! I decided it’s time to be ok with where I am in life. Fancy or not, it is where I spend a lot of wonderful time. So here it is after my annual clean up and organization.
This is my wheel. I work standing up and have found it to be better for my body. I think it’s a big reason I can still make dinnerware and lots of mugs without having pain. Creating larger pieces and multiples can be physically demanding.
This is my pugmill. The pails underneath will become full of trimmings and failures at the making stage that I will repurpose back into workable clay.
Here are my work benches. At times they will be full of madness. Looks nice all cleaned up and ready for work. You can see glaze pails and glaze ingredients under the table. I mix my own glazes so lots of storage space needed for the ingredients.
I hope you enjoyed my first blog post as I shared my studio for the first time in over 20 years. I have lots of plans for work and projects in 2025 and hope you will enjoy following along.
From the studio, Dayna
